Is there anything worse than introducing your ex to your new friends — and they love her?
On Single Parents, Will (Taran Killam) is about to find out when his ex-wife, Mia (guest star Vanessa Bayer), meets his new family — sorry, village! — for the first time.
In this exclusive clip from Wednesday’s episode, “All Aboard the Two-Parent Struggle Bus,” we get a taste of Mia’s first interaction with Will’s fellow single parents, and her self-righteous, do-gooder personality means she’s already acquired a surprisingly deep knowledge of the group from Sophie (Marlow Barkley). She praises Douglas’ (Brad Garrett) face, Miggy’s (Jake Choi) wisdom (okay, sure), and oh, she pictured Angie (Leighton Meester) taller. You can’t win ’em all.
In awe of what a good person she is (not to mention appreciative of her bribes gifts), the group is already enamored of Mia — but she’s driving Will crazy. “It’s very holier-than-thou. It was just fun to play. I hope I’m not that kind of a person, but it was fun to act like that kind of a person,” Bayer previously told EW of her take on Mia, who will also appear in the Jan. 23 episode.
The episodes gave Bayer a chance to reunite with Killam, her former Saturday Night Live castmate, in a full-circle way as ex-husband and wife. “As soon as we started working together on SNL, I would always call him my work husband and he would call me his work wife, and we established that dynamic pretty immediately,” she said. “He makes me laugh more than anyone else. He delights me.”
From the looks of things, Will can’t say the same of Mia.
