Pet Sematary teaser reveals creepy graves from Stephen King’s book

The names and writing are worn and weathered, and often misspelled by the children who scrawled them. But they’re still there, still remembered — especially by the directors of Pet Sematary.

A new teaser video for the April 6 film features glimpses of graves specifically mentioned in Stephen King’s original 1983 book.

King fans will no doubt remember, “Trixie, Kilt In the Road” and, much harder to read, “Hannah, the best dog that ever lived.”

In the movie, directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer also include a grave for “Smucky the Cat — He Was Obediant” — which was the real name of King’s daughter’s pet, who met an early end in the country road outside their home long ago.

(This isn’t in the video, but EW saw it in person when we visited the set.)

This shows a faithfulness to the details that makes this one of King’s most enduring and unsettling tales.

But the movie takes some new liberties with King’s book, as the filmmakers explained exclusively to EW.
