Céline Dion announces Courage World Tour, teases new album

If you’ve been waiting for a new tour and album from Céline Dion, well, it’s all coming back to you now.

On Wednesday afternoon, the singer revealed she’s kicking off her Courage World Tour in fall 2019. She made the announcement at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel at a special fan event in Los Angeles.

The Courage World Tour will mark her first U.S. tour in over 10 years, and it comes on the heels of the end of her legendary Las Vegas residency. “I think it’s time for a change, time to hit the road. So many people came to see us, and now we really think it’s time for us to go and see them,” she said to a room packed full of fans.

The Courage World Tour will begin Sept. 18 in Quebec City and will make stops in over 50 cities including Montreal, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Miami, Dallas, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, and more. “We’ve been thrilled to be working with Celine for these last 16 years in Las Vegas, and we’re even more delighted that for the first time in more than a decade, she will be bringing her show to her fans, all around the world, starting here in North America this September,” said John Meglen President and co-CEO of Concerts West in a statement. “Celine is a treasure, truly a voice for the ages.”

At the event, Dion added that she hopes this will be “the most spectacular tour” and promised it will feature the hits she knows fans want to hear, as well as some new songs. “What I want is to please my fans,” she said.

Dion also teased a new album, Courage, which she said she expects to release in November of this year. She told her fans she already has about five albums worth of songs in the running and is working now to decide which ones she wants to include. Dion also let it slip that Sia will take part in the new album and added that as a big Sia fan, she wished the pop singer had given her “Chandelier” to sing.

“I went through a lot and life had given time the tools…the way that I was raised…to find my inner strength, to keep going,” Dion said of the title song, referring to the 2016 passing of her husband and manager René Angélil. “When I lost René…he wanted me back on stage. He wanted me to practice my passion. I wanted him to know that I’m fine, we’re fine.”

To top things off, Dion sang a few of her most beloved songs, including the Oscar-winning “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic and “I’m Alive” off 2002’s A New Day Has Come. EW editor Patrick Gomez was on the scene at the event — watch some snippets of Dion’s performances below.
